Did you know about that?

For example, the sentence “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog” is a pangram.
This means that all pilots have to identify themselves and speak in English while flying, regardless of their origin.
Between now and your next meal, a new word will be put into the dictionary. During the course of the year, almost 4,000 new words are added! So, the next time you try to catch the attention of the dissertation committee, try adding some new words to your project.
The word “girl” was not initially used to refer to a specific gender. It used to mean “child” or “young person” regardless of the gender.

Words we always use even though they add no meaning or value to a sentence are called crutch words. For example, in the sentence “Then I was like, OMG, then like, he went there, and like…” it is pretty obvious that “like” is the crutch word. “Actually,” “honestly,” and “basically” are also commonly used as crutch words.

Medieval manuscripts reveal that some of the oldest words in English are “I,” “we,” “two,” and “three.” This makes “I” one of the shortest and oldest words in the English language. It is also the most commonly used word in English conversations.
Believe it or not, there are some words that appeared in the dictionary because of printing errors. The nonexistent word “dord” appeared in the dictionary for eight years in the mid-20th century. It became known as a “ghost word.”

They are also more likely to seek help in areas such as health advice, unknown experiences, and help with exams and study techniques.

The difference between Ukraine and Britain

Today I want to tell a few words about UK and Ukraine. These two countries are totally different. With different culture, politics, religion, mentality of people, education system.
UK is one of the most well-developed country with stable economy in the world, however UK keeping strong their traditions and protect their own culture, and do not want to be influenced by any of large countries or communities.
In this way Ukraine is not such powerful country, I guess that's because it gained an independency only in 1991. In connect to this point Ukraine still did a great improvement in last 10 years. The development in Ukrainian politics, business, level of life etc, was recognized by a lot of world organisation, but there is still too much work should be done.
As I told before, there are too many differences between these countries. Ukraine is a -parliamentary-presidential republic, whether UK has limited monarchy, but PM is the main person in UK parliament. Religion is different as well, UK – catholic, Ukraine – orthodoxy country. The culture and people's mentality are opposite different, and everybody connects just in one, everybody wants to be happy. People in the UK and Ukraine have different priorities and gains, it all based on timing and history. Because Ukrainians havebeen treating by different larger countries, in case the UK was free.
Also, education process is not the same. In Ukraine children go to school at 6-years old, and finish it at 16’s. Then they pass final exams. There are two part of it, nation exam around all Ukraine; it’s called “ZNO” and exams inside the school. With these results they apply to Universities, and in September enter there. The higher education consists of 4-5 year bachelor’s degree + 1-2 years for master degree. When, in the UK people entry to University only when they get 18 year old, and finish in 3-4 years.
In conclusion, I can say that even if UK and Ukraine are really different, I am still in love with both of them. Each country has its good and bad sides, each nation has its own culture and traditions, but I guess, that everybody wants to be happy and satisfied with their needs and lives without wars and crises.

Essential American Slang Words for English learners (Part 7)

Dunno (verb) Simply speaking, dunno means ‘I don’t know’. It’s a quicker and lazier way of saying it and it’s very popular among young people. However, do be careful who you say this to – if you say it to someone in a higher position than you it could come across as rude. So to play it safe just use it around people your own age or younger.
  Example 1)
“Where’s Jane? She’s supposed to be here by now.”
Dunno, she’s always late!”
Example 2)
“What are you doing for Spring Break?”
Dunno, I was thinking Mexico again. You?”
Dunno yet!”
Loser (noun) In a game we have winners and we have losers, but if your friend says a person is a loser, it doesn’t mean they lost a game or a competition it means that they don’t like him or her because of their actions and behavior.
 Example 1)
“Ray is such a loser for breaking up with Rebecca.”
“Yeah, I know, he’s never going to find a girl as good as her!”
Example 2)
“Victor’s turning into a real loser these days.”
“Why?”
“I dunno but he’s turned really arrogant since he’s gone to college!”
Rip off (noun) To be ripped off (verb) If you find a simple t-shirt and the price tag says $80 on it, you’d be shocked, right? That t-shirt is a complete rip off which means that it is way too expensive for what it is. And if a person rips you off they’re cheating you out of money and charging you a lot more than you should be paying for example: tourists often get ripped off by locals because the locals want to make money and the tourists have no idea.

Example 1)
“I’m not going to the J-Lo concert anymore.”
“Why not?”a
“The tickets are way too expensive. They’re $250 each.”
“Oooh, that’s such a rip off! Who can afford that these days?”
Example 2)
“How much did you buy your wheels for bro?”
“$2000!”
“Dude, you were so ripped off. This car’s worth only half of that!”
